Cold Spring Fire Company Vehicle Extrication Drill
By President Aaron Leonard
October 15, 2024
At our October 15 drill, the all-volunteer Cold Spring Fire Company worked on vehicle extrication skills. Maintaining these life-saving skills is critical as our crews respond to numerous motor vehicle accidents (MVAs) every month. Regular drills like this ensure our firefighters are ready to act swiftly when the situation demands it, ensuring we can provide the highest level of service to our community in emergencies.
The dedication of our volunteers makes Cold Spring a safer place, and we thank them for their commitment to our community.
Crews trained on basic extracation drills with simulated passengers made in-house using retired fire hose.
Probationary firefighters, identified by the red helmet badge, benefit from learning how they can support extraction.
Work lights from our two engines support operations at night.
Training includes cutting and removing the windshield using a powered cutter or a hand saw.
